Crickhowell Rotary Annual Young Musician Competition 2025

During October we held our annual Young Musician Competition at Crickhowell High School showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication of the pupils. The event featured both instrumental and vocal sections, each filled with outstanding performances that highlighted the musical diversity within the school.

Under the expert guidance of Vicky Callow, Head of Music, pupils delivered performances that were both polished and passionate. Her enthusiasm for music continues to inspire students to sim high and express themselves confidently.

More than twenty pupils took part this year representing a wide variety of musical styles- from classical to rap, and everything in between. Performances included drummers, guitarists, woodwind and pianists plus an impressive range of vocalists.

INSTRUMENTAL WINNER

Daniel Keevil – classical pianist

His performance captivated the judges with precision, musicality and emotional depth.

 

VOCAL WINNER

Katy Saunders – musical theatre

Katy impressed with her expressive vocal skills and strong stage presence

 

Huge congratulations to all participants for making this year’s competition such a memorable and inspiring event.

The Head Teacher, Mark Yeoman held an impromptu performance playing guitar and singing “Shallow” by Lady Gaga, which was wonderfully received, especially by his pupils. It really helped make the event such a success.
