New Crickhowell Rotary President installed

At a celebratory event at The Bear Hotel Crickhowell on 27 June 2025 Hywel Bevan was installed as Crickhowell Rotary Club’s President for the forthcoming 2025-26 Rotary year. Honoured guests included Keith Willard, Incoming President Abergavenny Club and Hazel Willard, Hayley Ridge-Evans incoming President Brecon Club and Mike Evans also of Brecon Rotary Club.

Hywel is a well-known figure in the local community and has been a member of the club since 2013. In welcoming Hywel to his leadership position outgoing President David Haycock wished him every success in leading the club into the future and thanked fellow Rotarians for their commitment to club and community in the past year. A year that was especially significant for the amount of money raised and in the number of charities and community causes the club has been able to support. A fine example has been the collaboration with the Llangattock Community Education Trust in joint funding The Redwood Recording Studio in Crickhowell High School. The Studio opening was celebrated in February 2025.

David remarked on how the positive benefits of being member of such a fun, friendly, effective group of people had benefitted him. He expressed satisfaction at the continuing level of support for the club in the Crickhowell community adding he was especially encouraged by the addition of two new members joining last year. He continued “the last year has seen Rotarians enjoying themselves at an increasing number of social and fun events!” David Proceeded to install Hywel as President.


Past President David Haycock installs Hywel Bevan as President for 2025-26

Incoming President Hywel Bevan outlined some of his feelings for the club’s new year in an ever changing world. Recognising the support he had received from the club his vice presidential year, he expressed his gratitude to Rotarians, in particular David Haycock the outgoing president who despite significant work and personal pressures had overseen the restoration of the club’s activities in line with pre covid days with success in both fund raising and a more dynamic level of social activity overall. Hywel then installed Brian Brookshaw as the clubs Vice President and Mike Axford as Club Treasurer.

Hywel added “as President, I inherit an outstanding heritage, but the club will continue to face new challenges and I look forward to working with my local Rotary team is the spirit of our motto ‘Service Before SeIf.”

The celebration took place at the Bear Hotel and entertainment completed the evening courtesy of a highly skilled group of music students from Crickhowell High School.
